About Project
Fankee is a platform that empowers electronic dance music (EDM) enthusiasts to directly contribute to the success of their favorite songs and artists. By allowing users to purchase ownership stakes in tracks, Fankee creates a unique opportunity for music lovers to become active participants in the growth and promotion of the songs they love.
Project timeline.

Goals of the project.
Shape design around people
Sense of community was a key component for shaping the unique experience of Fankee.
Create a sence of supportive community
Music lovers had to feel that they are making a change with every single interaction.
Pleasant listening and music discovery experience
Having a joyful music discovery experience was one the key elements in the product user experience.

We began the project with a kick off session.
Main goals of the kickoff
We wanted to understand the product idea, the problem it aimed to solve, and the primary value it would provide to users.
How we collaborated with Fankee
Due to the project's short timeline, we maintained daily communication with the Fankee team and held two extended weekly sessions to dive deeper into the designs.

Following the kickoff session, we started reviewing the gathered information and creating the initial wireframes…

From complex business.
To joyful user experience.
01) Early investment
The platform offers a two-week pre-release period for every new song, during which the track is exclusively available on Fankee. This window provides music lovers with an opportunity to discover fresh talent and invest in songs they believe in by purchasing up to 10 percent ownership at a base price.
02) Promotion phase
After the two-week pre-release period, the song becomes available on all music platforms and can be used by content creators on social media. As the song gains traction through increased interactions, streams, and shares, the value of the ownership stakes rises proportionately.
03) Earn money
The price increase continues for 30 days following the wide release of the song. After this time, owners can choose to hold onto their ownership stakes, enjoying the benefits of the song's growth, or sell their portions back to Fankee at the increased market value.
Biggest Challenge
Translating a complex business model to a simple and intuitive user experience …

Key questions
How might we ensure more people start supporting new release songs?
How might we design an uninterupted listening experience for music lovers?
How might we encourge people to start early investing in new songs?
Let's see the answers below
. . .
Multi-state player.
Designed for different user and business needs.
To address the challenge of designing for both the listening and promoting experiences, I designed the music player with two distinct states: one offering a pure listening mode and the other focusing on supporting and promoting the experience.

Listen mode (Left)
The first state of the music player was dedicated to the listening experience, providing a clean and immersive interface that showcased the track's cover art and simple music controls.
Scout mode (Center)
The other state of the music player was optimized for the promoting experience. In this state, users could view key metrics such as the number of interactions and streams the song had received.
People at the center.
Creating the hype.
We recognized that the community aspect was Fankee's heart ❤️, and it needed to be clear in every facet of the user experience.
To achieve this, we designed features and interactions that fostered a sense of belonging, collaboration, and shared purpose among users.

Top creators (Left)
Top creators are those who used the song to create content. The goal is to encourage people to join the song's growth journey.
Communtiy tab (Center)
Fans can see other music lovers activities on the platform including them buying shares of a song, liking it or leaving a comment.
In-player comment section (right)
People can comment on songs and connect with others while listening to the songs.
Scroll Songs.
Find the next top hit.
The scrolling behavior was very enjoyable for users during the test session. They found it fun and easy to discover new songs, which was also totally aligned with one of the business objectives: encouraging people to discover more new songs.
Final results & impact.
After multiple rounds of ideations and iterations and 2 rounds of test sessions, we delivered an easy-to-use, understandable, and engaging MVP version of the product. We achieved a solid design where the app's main functionality and critical user flows were well-received by users.
